It is my hope that my works of art one day could become a part of someone's intimate story just as the works of others have become mine.
I started practicing ceramics in 2012 while pursuing my degree in music at Salisbury University. I became so enamored with pottery and “all things clay,” that in 2017 I earned both my bachelor’s in music and art. During my time at SU, I was fortunate to work so closely with Rob and Sarah at Amused Studios who helped me confidently pursue my skills in ceramics and continuously work to discover my niche as an artist.
I’m inspired everyday by my immediate surroundings, the ordinary parts of life. Each morning when you reach for your favorite mug to pour your coffee or perhaps when you grab your favorite bag or basket to head to the farmer’s market, I revere the intimate relationship each person forms with their everyday objects. I find simple designs and finishes often highlight the handmade qualities of our utilitarian objects and help each individual engage with the function and purpose of a product. This is in essence, the nature of all folk art: art of, by, and for the people made from materials and aspects of our shared environment. This aspect of my aesthetic spills over into my other crafts and I often find myself immersed in the art of weaving baskets, creating found art, and collecting locally sourced antiques to adorn my own home.
